These settings can be found in the Reliance Tools app while a printer is connected to the PC.
Print & Output Settings
-
Print Quality – Adjusts the resolution or dot density to affect the print speed.
Normal is a balance of quality and speed.
High-Quality prints slower with greater detail and clarity.
High-Speed prints faster with reduced detail.
Print Density – Controls the darkness of printed text and graphics by varying thermal head intensity. Higher settings produce darker output but increase energy usage and print head wear.
Paper Slack – Sets the extra paper length allowed before cutting or presenting to minimize tension and reduce paper jams.
Paper Size – Defines the ticket/paper dimensions. This must match the installed paper roll for correct alignment and cutting.
Ticket Handling & Presentation
Ticket Retraction – Determines whether and when a ticket is pulled back if the user does not take it.
-
Ejector – Controls the motorized mechanism that delivers the ticket to the customer.
Presenter Mode prints and cuts the ticket before it is presented to the customer.
Continuous Mode presents the ticket to the customer as it is being printed.
Ticket Timeout – The maximum time (in seconds) the printer waits for the user to take the ticket before performing the Timeout Action.
-
Timeout Action – Defines what happens when the Ticket Timeout is reached:
Nothing will cause the ticket to stay in the presenter until another ticket is printed.
Eject will cause the ticket to be dropped outside of the printer.
Retract will cause the ticket to be pulled back inside the printer for disposal.
-
New Ticket Action – Determines printer behavior if a new print command arrives while a previous ticket is uncollected:
Eject will cause the ticket to be dropped outside of the printer.
Retract will cause the ticket to be pulled back inside the printer for disposal.
Queue will print tickets one after another once each previous ticket has been taken.
Present Length – Sets how far (in millimeters) the ticket extends from the bezel for customer retrieval.
Formatting & Print Behavior
Carriage Return – Enables or disables recognition of the carriage return command (move print position to the start of the line).
Line Feed Enable – Enables recognition of the line feed command (advance paper by one line).
Autocut – Enables automatic cutting of the ticket after printing.
Autocut Timeout – Sets the delay (in seconds) before cutting after printing is complete.
USB Serial Number – Assigns a unique ID to the printer’s USB interface, used to distinguish multiple Reliance printers on the same system.
Virtual Comm Port – Configures the USB connection to emulate a serial COM port for legacy software compatibility.
Startup Ticket – Toggles whether the printer outputs a configuration ticket at power-up.
Truncate Blank Space – Removes unnecessary blank lines or trailing whitespace from tickets to reduce paper usage.
Formatting Standards & Codes
ESC/POS Line Spacing – Adjusts line spacing based on ESC/POS command set (commonly used in POS systems).
2D Barcode Quiet Zone – Defines the required blank margin around 2D barcodes to ensure proper scanning.
Special Modes
Pull Tab Mode – Activates functionality specific to pull-tab style tickets, ensuring correct presentation, alignment, and cutting for game tickets.
Locks the CPI – “Characters Per Inch” lock, prevents software from overriding set font spacing/density for consistent output.
