Reliance Printer Error Codes

Diagnostic Features

The Reliance Printer includes built-in diagnostic indicators to assist with troubleshooting. These are provided via two LED indicators:

• Rear Status LED – Located on the back of the unit

• Bezel LED – Located on the printer’s front-facing bezel

Note: The printer must be powered on to display any diagnostic LED behavior.

Rear LED Flash Codes (Reliance Printer Status)

This multi-color LED flashes in specific sequences to indicate printer status or errors. If the LED is solid green, the printer is functioning properly.

LED Behavior	Meaning	Corrective Action
Off	No power	Ensure power is properly connected.
Solid Green	Printer is OK	No action required.
1 Flash	Paper Low	Paper is running low; replace soon.
Solid Blue	Printer Overheating	Allow printer to cool before resuming use.
1 Flash	Head Open	Ensure the platen head is fully closed. Inspect printer for jams.
2 Flashes	Paper Out	Install new paper roll.
3 Flashes	Supply Voltage Error	Verify power supply voltage is within specifications.
Solid Red	Paper or Print Head Jam	Clear jam according to the Paper Jam Clearing procedure.
1 Flash (Red)	Cutter Error	Open the printer, remove all paper, and close it properly.
2 Flashes (Red)	Memory Error	Contact PTI Technical Support.
3 Flashes (Red)	Presenter Error	Contact PTI Technical Support.
4 Flashes (Red)	Unknown Error	Contact PTI Technical Support.

Bezel LED Flash Codes (Printer Response Status)

If the printer fails to print or respond, refer to the bezel LED flash pattern for further diagnostics.

LED Behavior	Meaning	Corrective Action
Solid On	Printer is OK	No action needed.
Flashing (½s On / ½s Off)	Firmware Update Mode	Power cycle the printer. Use Reliance Printer Tools software to update firmware.
Very Rapid Flashing	Recovery Mode	Power cycle the unit. Update firmware using Reliance Printer Tools. Call PTI if needed.
