Overview
This guide explains how to load a configuration file into a Phoenix or Reliance printer using the appropriate printer tools application. Configuration files (.phg for Phoenix or .rfg for Reliance) are used to apply predefined printer settings for specific kiosk or game applications.
Requirements
- A Phoenix or Reliance printer connected to a Windows PC
- The appropriate printer tools application installed (Phoenix Tools or Reliance Tools)
- A valid configuration file (
.phgfor Phoenix or.rfgfor Reliance) - A USB cable connected between the printer and the PC
- The configuration file saved to the Windows desktop
Phoenix: Load the Configuration File
Step 1 — Click Load Config
Open the Phoenix Tools application and click the Load Config button.
Step 2 — Open the Saved Configuration File
Browse to the configuration file saved on the desktop and select Open.
Step 3 — Click Save
Click Save to apply the configuration to the printer.
Step 4 — Click Close
Click Close when the configuration process is complete.
Reliance: Load the Configuration File
Step 1 — Click Load Config
Open the Reliance Tools application and click the Load Config button.
Browse to the configuration file saved on the desktop and select Open.

Step 2 — Open the Saved Configuration File
Locate the configuration file you saved to the desktop and open it.

Step 3 — Success
Click Okay to confirm the configuration was loaded to the printer.
Completion
Once the configuration file has been saved, the printer will operate using the new settings. You can now disconnect the printer or continue with additional setup steps.
